Our Coaches

Coach Chris Sampson is in his seventeenth season as head coach at Monrovia High School. Chris, a Ball State graduate, previously coached at various levels in the Avon School System before coming to Monrovia. During the past sixteen seasons under Coach Sampson the Bulldogs have captured seven West Central Conference Championships, four sectional championships, two regional championships and one final four appearance. Last season, coach surpassed the 200 win plateau. In 2000, the Bulldogs competed in the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame Classic. That same year, Coach Sampson was selected as a coach for the Reebok North – South All Star game. Chris and his wife Debbie have three sons, Ryan, Eric and Matt and a daughter in law Nicole. Chris serves the Monrovia community as principal of Monrovia Elementary School.

Coach Kyle Swafford is in his first year as our reserve coach. Kyle, an IU graduate, previously coached for eight years at Edgewood High School. Kyle and his wife Katie have two young sons Chase and Blake. Kyle is employed at Lynnhurst Middle School in Wayne Township.

Coach Eric Sampson is in his first year as our freshman coach. Eric is a graduate of Monrovia High School where he played football and basketball. Eric was a member of the Bulldog Basketball team that won the West Central Conference Championship in 2008. Eric is currently a Senior at Butler University. Eric is assisted in his coaching duties by fellow Butler Seniors Michael White and Andrew Brower.
