Football Coach

Mark Jaynes is a new addition to this program although he has coached baseball and varsity softball in the past. Mark has been a para-professional for the past seven years at Monrovia High School is is currently working towards a degree in education. He is married to Desiree and has a daughter, Lauren and a son, Evan. Mark is the public address announcer for the Monrovia and Avon high school football teams.

 

Coach PiattCraig Piatt
Assistant Football Coach

Craig Piatt has coached four years at the middle school level, but this will be his first year at the high school level. He is a graduate of Cincinnati Christian University and has a Bachelor of Science Degree in General Ministry. Craig is currently employed as the student minister at the Monrovia Christian Church. He is married to Jennifer and has two sons, Aiden and Elijah.

 

 

Coach ClementsCelina Clements
Varsity Girls Volleyball

Head Coach Celina Clements begins her first year coaching at Monrovia. She previously coached Varsity Volleyball at Cascade where she led the team to four consecutive Sectional Championships, three consecutive West Central Conference Championships, had a win/loss percentage of 93.2%, and was Metro South Coach of the Year in 2003. She attended Indiana Wesleyan where she received her Masters of Education and also attended Indiana University in Bloomington where she received her Bachelor of Science in Education. She currently teaches Kindergarten at Monrovia Elementary and is the wife of Russ and the mother of three children, Ethan (6), Shelby (4) and Sidney (2).

Assistant Varsity Girls Volleyball

Anna Brown begins her second year as the assistant volleyball coach. She was a four year varsity player at Avon High School, twice winning the Mental Attitude Award. She attended Purdue University, where she majored in Education, and is currently a 1st Grade teacher at Monrovia Elementary.

Varsity Boys Soccer Coach

Boys Varsity Soccer Coach Andrew Dobbs begins his third season as coach of Monrovia, where he also played while a student, earning All-Area honors. He has a B.S. degree from IUPUI in Computer Information Technology and is a member of the Technology Department at Monrovia High School. He is the husband of Elizabeth and the father of Harper Jane (4 months).

Girls Varsity Soccer Coach

Girls Varsity Soccer Coach Kyle Dotson begins his third season as coach of the Bulldogs. He has a bachelors degree in Business Management from Indiana Wesleyan. Kyle is the proud father of Brooklee(6) and Braelynn(5).

Girls Varsity Soccer Coach

Girls Varsity Assistant Soccer Coach Len Piechocki begins his first season as coach of the Bulldogs. He has coached five years overall for Indianapolis Basketball Youth League and Monrovia Baseball and Soccer. He is the husband of Colleen and the father of Danielle (19), Racquel (16), and Mitchell (10).

Varsity Girls Golf

Coach Mike Springer has 17 years of coaching experience including previous stints at Indianapolis Washington, Northwest, and Manual. The 1991 graduate of Ball State University was a member of the Cardinal golf team for four years. He is the assistant principal at Monrovia High School and is married to Acile and father of Nathan.

 

Coach WillettBrian Willett
Band Director

Band Director Brian Willett has led the Bulldog Brigade for 12 years. Under his direction, the band has earned three ISSMA All-Music Awards and has been a nine-time Regional Qualifier, Semi-State qualifier, Bands of America Grand National Semi-Finalist and National Class Finalist. In 2008, the Brigade was involved in the Mid-States Band Association Championship Finals for the third straight year and finished as the top Indiana band in their class. The band was also selected to march at Walt Disney World in Orlando.

Brian has also led the Monrovia Jazz Band for 12 years. Under his direction, the band has earned seven straight Gold ratings at the Indiana State School Music Association Jazz Festival. The Jazz Band meets on a volunteer basis after school in preparation for performances.

An alumnus of Monrovia, Brian has a B.A. in Music from DePauw University, a Masters degree in Education from Indiana Wesleyan and an Indiana Principal’s license. He and his wife, Germaine, are the proud parents of Andrew (8), Alex (6), and Whitney (4).

 

Dr. LillyDr. Albert Lilly
Assistant Band Director

Dr. Albert Lilly has served as the Assistant Band Director for four years and has been music arranger for the past seven years. He has a Bachelor of Music from DePauw University, Master of Music from the Jordan College of Music at Butler University, and a Doctor of Music from the Indiana University School of Music. He is an adjunct professor at Indiana Wesleyan and educational director, music caption head for the Central States Judges Association. Al resides in Martinsville with Vicki, his wife of 17 years.

 

Coach WestColin West
Bulldog Brigade Color Guard

Mr. Colin West is currently in his 11th season with the Monrovia Bulldog Brigade Color Guard. An alumnus of Terre Haute North High School, he currently resides in Indianapolis. Mr. West has attended Indiana State University, AIU Online, and holds a Visual Design degree. He is currently the webmaster for the Monrovia Bands website, monroviabands.com. Mr. West has marched with the Glassmen Drum and Bugle Corps out of Toledo, Ohio.

Varsity Co-ed Cross Country
Varsity Girls Track Coach

Bart Cassida has ten years of coaching esperience including previous work at Eminence and Greencastle. He has coached the first Back-to-Back WCC Champion and the boys team set a new school record under his direction. He has a B.A. in Mathematics from DePauw University and teaches Algebra and Pre-Algebra at Monrovia High School. He is married to Amy and has a daughter, Sydney (13).

 

Coach PorterJim Porter
Varsity Girls Basketball Coach

Head Coach Jim Porter is beginning his 25th season as a basketball coach. He was coach at Eminence, where his teams were Sectional Champs and Tri River Conference Champs in 1995, 1996, and 1997. Coach Porter was Hoosier Basketball Coaches Association Coach of the Year for the West District as well as Indianapolis Star Coach of the Year for the West Side in 1996. He also coached at Bloomington North before coming to Monrovia and winning the Sectional in 2006. Jim played basketball at Denison University and also earned his B.S. in Physical Education from IUPUI. He is married to Jeannie with children Julia (18) and Rylan (15).

 

Coach BurtnerLaura Burtner
Assistant Varsity Girls Basketball Coach

Assistant Coach Laura Burtner has been assisting Coach Porter for 4 years. In high school in Colorado, Laura won the Outstanding Senior Athlete Award while leading her team to the Colorado Final Four. She was the 3rd leading shot blocker in the state as well as the 6th leading rebounder in being named to the All-State Team.

 

Coach HunterShelley Hunter
Junior Varsity Girls Basketball Coach

JV Coach Shelley Hunter has 14 years of experience coaching at Mooresville, Greenwood, and Monrovia. As a player at Greenwood HS, Shelley won the steals and assist award, as well as the defensive award. She has a degree from the Academy for Health Sciences in Texas and an Occupational Therapy & Nursing degree from the University of Delaware (Wilmington). Coach Hunter was a player for the Indiana Speed of the Women’s Professional Football League, winning the rookie team award and mental attitude award. She is an army veteran of Desert Shield and Desert Storm. Her children are Kateland(16), Kenna(12), and Reece(10).

 

Coach SampsonChris Sampson
Varsity Boys Basketball Coach

Coach Chris Sampson is entering his fifteenth season as the Bulldog Head Coach. Along with 184 wins in coach’s previous fourteen years, the Bulldogs have won six WCC championships, four sectional championship, two regional championships and one final four appearance. The Bulldogs also participated in the Hall of Fame Classic in 1999. In 2000, Coach Sampson coached in the Reebok North/South All Star Game. Coach holds degrees from Ball State, Butler and certification from IUPUI and is currently serving as the principal at Monrovia Elementary. Before arriving at Monrovia, Coach Sampson taught sixth grade and coached junior high, freshman and junior varsity basketball. The Sampson family consists of Chris and his wife Debbie as well as their three sons, Ryan, Eric and Matt and their daughter-in-law Nicole.

 

Coach SummersNate Summers
Assistant Varsity Boys Basketball Coach

Coach Nate Summers joins the Bulldogs as an assistant coach for the 2009-10 season. Coach played ball for Hall of Fame coach Al Rhodes at Logansport High School before becoming a student assistant for Head Coach Ron Hunter and the IUPUI Jaguars for four seasons. While at IUPUI, Coach Summers worked with high quality players including San Antonio Spurs guard George Hill. Nate has coached summer AAU ball with the highly respected SYF program. Coach Summers is currently working as an intern in the athletic office at Monrovia High School.

 

Mark CliftonCoach Clifton
Assistant Varsity Boys Basketball Coach

Coach Mark Clifton brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the Bulldog program. Mark was an assistant coach for four years at Monrovia before moving back to work and coach at his alma mater Brownsburg High School. While at Brownsburg, they won a state championship in Class 4A. Mark has also coached at Carroll and Tri-West High Schools. Mark is an Indiana State graduate and currently works in the Special Education Department at Brownsburg High School. He has two children, Kyle and Crystal.

Coach DorsettDrew Dorsett
Freshman Boys Basketball Coach

Coach Dorsett joins the Bulldog staff as the freshman coach. Coach is a Monrovia High School graduate. His previous coaching experience was at the sixth grade level at Monrovia Middle School.

 

 

Coach FakesTodd Fakes
Varsity Wrestling Coach

Head coach Todd Fakes has 28 years of coaching experience at Monrovia, all as head coach. His records include University of Indianapolis Coach of the Year (1991), seven Conference Champions, three Undefeated Seasons, 21 of 22 winning seasons, two State Champions, and numerous State Qualifiers and Conference Champions. The University of Indianapolis graduate was a three-year letter winner in football and a four-year letter winner in wrestling for the Greyhounds. In addition, he was on the Academic Honor Roll for four semesters. Previous coaching experience includes work at North White High School, Cascade High School, and Plainfield Middle School. Fakes teaches high school physical education and is married to Rosie Fakes, a teacher at Cascade High School. He is the father of Tyran, 21; and Zane, 18. Tyran is following in dad’s footsteps, playing for the Greyhounds.

 

Coach AndrewsZane Andrews
Assistant Varsity Wrestling Coach

Assistant Coach Zane Andrews begins his first year of coaching for the Bulldogs. He previously coached wrestling at the University of Indianapolis for two years after wrestling four years for the University of Indianapolis Varsity Squad. Zane has a Bachelor's Degree in Marketing and a Master's Degree in Business Administration. When he wrestled for the Bulldogs, he was an accomplished 3-time WCC Champion with over 100 career wins. Regional runner-up and Semi-State Qualifier from 1999.2002.

 

Coach GrayKrista Gray
Assistant Varsity Softball Coach

Krista Gray begins her 2nd year as Assistant Varsity Softball Coach. She previously was head coach for the Monrovia Middle School Softball Team. Krista is also a 2002 graduate of Monrovia High School where she also played Varsity Softball. She is a graduate of Ball State University and currently teaches 4th Grade at Monrovia Elementary School.

 

Coach NeumanBarry Neuman
Varsity Boys Baseball Coach

Barry Neuman begins his second year as Varsity Boys Baseball Coach after assisting for several years. He is also coach of the 7th Grade Boys Basketball Coach. Coach Neuman graduated from Valparaiso University with a Bachelors of Science in Electrical and Computer Engineering and currently serves as the Director of Technology for the school district.
