About Our Coaches

Head Basketball Coach Chris Sampson brings 26 years of coaching experience to the Bulldog program including 11 years as head coach. His 155-101 record is showcased by five WCC Championships, four Sectional Championships, Two Regional Championships, One Final Four trip, and coaching the Reebok North/South Indiana All-Star Game 2000. The Ball State graduate is the current principal of Monrovia Elementary School. He is the father of Ryan, 23; Eric, 17; and Matt, 13 and married to Debbie.

Assistant Varsity Basketball Coach Barry Neuman

Junior Varsity Basketball Coach Brandon Willett was a part of the 1998 Sectional Championship team at Monrovia. The Butler University graduate was a two time football All-Conference winner, 2000 Academic All-American, and team captain of the Bulldogs. He is entering his fourth year coaching after a previous stint at Avon Middle School. Willett teaches biology at Monrovia High School and is married to Heather Gore.

Head coach Todd Fakes has 25 years of coaching experience at Monrovia, all as head coach. His records include University of Indianapolis Coach of the Year (1991), seven Conference Champions, three Undefeated Seasons, 20 of 21 Winning Season, two State Champions, and numerous State Qualifiers and Conference Champions. The University of Indianapolis graduate was a three-year letter winner in football and a four-year letter winner in wrestling for the Greyhounds. In addition, he was on the Academic Honor Roll for four semesters. Previous coaching experience includes work at North White High School, Cascade High School, and Plainfield Middle School. Fakes teaches high school physical education and is married to Rosie Fakes, a teacher at Cascade High School. His is the father of Tyran, 18; and Zane, 15. Tyran is following in dad’s footsteps, playing for the Greyhounds.

Assistant Coach Mitch Napier is an ‘05 graduate of the University of Indianapolis where he wrestled for four years and was ranked number one in the nation his senior year. He was also a two time All-American and two time Academic All-American. He racked up several honors in high school wrestling for the Bulldogs including a State Champion, four time Conference Champion, three time Sectional Champion, three time State Qualifier, two time All-State, and holds five school records after going 40-1 as a senior. This is his first year as varsity assistant after coaching many years in the Monrovia Wrestling Club.
