The Flu - A Parent's Guide

The CDC has issued a flyer for parents that answers alot of the questions parents might have regarding the flu. To view the flyer, please click the link below.

the flu - A Guide for Parents

The Centers for Disease and Prevention recommends four main ways you and your family may kep from getting sick with the flu while at school or public places:

  1. Get your children vaccinated for seasonal flu and 2009 H1N1 flu when vaccines are available. Parents and caregivers of children less than 6 months of age should also get vaccinated for seasonal flu and 2009 H1N1 flu because these children are at higher risk for flu complications and are too young to be vaccinated.
  2. Keep sick children at home for at least 24 hours after they no longer have fever.
  3. Practice good hand hygiene by washing your hands often with soap and water, especially after coughing or sneezing. Parents and child care providers should wash the hands of children who cannot yet wash themselves and closely monitor children who have not yet mastered proper hand hygiene.
  4. Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when you cough or sneeze. If you don't have a tissue, cough or sneeze into your elbow or shoulder; not into your hands. Teach your children how to do this.

PTO Donations

We would like to thank the PTO for their generous donations and support that have enabled us to expand our playground. Last spring, we added swing sets to both playgrounds. This fall we were able to expand the play set in the primary play area that is utilized by grades K-2 as well as a spiral slide on the upper grades play ground. All of this was made possible by monies raised through fund raisers and obtained from matching grants. Thank you to all who help make our school a positive environment for our students.

The doors to the school will be open to students at 7:40 am each day. They will be dismissed beginning at 2:30pm. There will not be Success Period this year.

No Student Half Days

In the past, school has been dismissed at noon on six different days to provide for teacher training. The Department of Education has removed this option for schools for the 2009-2010 school year and beyond. All student days this year will be full days. Inclement weather would be the only factor that could bring about an early dismissal or delayed beginning of school.
