Minutes for January 10

Financial Report:

     Profit from Santa Shop:  $2020.74

     Indoor recess items purchased:  $1602.41

     Gift cards for Mr. Sampson, Mrs. Carlton and Mrs. Hampton:  $150.00

     Gift cards for janitorial staff:  $180.00

     Teacher gift cards:  $1125.00

     Checking account balance:  $6225.33

Discussion Items:

     1.  Rock N Rollers Skate Party:  Saturday, Jan 15th 4:30 - 6:30 pm. Advance sale tix available at MES bookstore for $4.00. Tix at the door the day of the event are $6.00

     2.  Box Tops Contest started today and runs through Feb 11.  A goal of 400 Box Tops per class will win that class a popsicle party.  Extra points to be given for Box Tops turned in trimmed (100 pts), expiration dates checked (100 pts) and separated in baggies in groups of 50 (100 pts).  There will be an overall winner that will get an ice cream party.  Bethany Brown and Brenda Kennedy are co-chairs.  The Media Library will be presented a check for $1199.00 this week from the fall Box Tops Contest. 

     3.  Voted to give $20 gift cards to Elmer Kimmel and Jack Elliott for their hard work during delivery of indoor recess items.

     4.  Puttin' on the Hits will be Friday, Feb 25th.  All elementary grade levels are able to participate.  Those students that wish to participate will be in groups of 4-6.  A parent will "sponsor" a group and be responsible for helping the students choreograph their dance moves, learn the song to lip sync to, organize costumes/props. Song choice to be submitted to the PTO Board for approval.  Mr. McDaniel and Mr. Willett to assist w/ set lighting and props.  Concessions will be available for purchase.  Admission will be charged.

     5.  Grandparents Night will be Thursday, April 14th 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm.  Book Fair to coincide.  Free cookies, snacks, coffee and lemonade to be provided.

     6.  ISTEP reward of M & M's to be given to grades 3-5 at the end of each ISTEP week.

     7.  Math Fact Rewards:  use stock items from PTO Santa Shop

     8.  Spirit Day is Friday, Feb 14th.  Treat to be awarded for Most Spirited Class.

     9.  Walk A Thon Kick Off is Thursday, Feb 24th. 

    10.  New Book Purchase Update:  4th Grade Classes need 52 books; waiting on report from 5th Grade

    11.  Supplies need to be purchased for Popcorn Friday

Next MES PTO Meeting is Monday, February 7th @ 6:30 pm in the elementary cafeteria
