Monrovia Elementary PTOMinutes for October 3, 2011Those in attendance: Tanessa Barber, Marty Vaughn, Jennifer Courtney, Tisha Kivett, Tammy Everett, Denise Ash, Denise Kriech, Melissa Phillips and Amy Cox ___________ Thank you to Jennifer Courtney for bringing in a wonderful Rocky Road Brownie treat for all of us to enjoy during the meeting. ___________ Review of events since last meeting: Tailgate Party: Bounce house was a hit! Low attendance in comparison to last year. Thank you to Marlin Shupe for building the 2 football toss games. PTO will be able to use these at future events. Rock N Rollers Skate Party: We had a great time. Approx 100 people in attendance. Next Rock N Rollers Skate Party is Saturday, January 21, 2012. ____________ Upcoming Events: Trash Bag Distribution: October 17th and 18th from 3:00-8:00 pm. Volunteers are needed. Bingo Night: Friday, November 11th @ 6:00 pm in the elementary cafeteria. Concessions and merchandise available for purchase. Silent Auction items available. The Great American Bake Sale will coincide with Bingo Night. Chicago Charter Bus Trip: Saturday, November 12th. We will leave the elementary parking lot at 7:00 pm. Our first stop will be The Magnificent Mile in downtown Chicago. We will shop from 9:00 am (Chicago Time) until 2:00 pm on the Mag Mile. Bus loading will be from 2:00-2:30 pm. We will arrive at Woodfield Mall at approx 3:00 pm. We will load back on the bus at 9:00 pm. Cost is $50 per person, adults only. Advance ticket purchase is required. Contact a PTO board member for tickets. Anyone may purchase a ticket. You DO NOT have to go to Monrovia Schools to attend this function. ____________________ Budget: $10, 981.76 to date ___________________ Discussion: 1. Received a "thank you" not from Mrs. Keefer re: teacher need items. 2. Received donation from Citizen's Bank to cover Perfect Attendance gift cards and trophies. 3. Received donation from Home Bank to cover Popcorn Friday expenses the rest of the year. 4. Reviewed Bingo Night Prizes received to date. 5. Reviewed and voted on teacher need items: a. Mrs. Bombei approved for $120 for purchase of board games to use during centers. b. Mrs. Murrell approved for $72.97 for Learning Station activities. c. Mrs. Biggs, Mrs. Neureiter, Mrs. Walton and Mr. Noel approved for $488 for purchase of 3 chapter books (The Chocolate Touch, qty 24. Because of Winn Dixie, qty 61. Bridge to Terebithia, qty 37) d. Ms. Clark approved for $175.65 for Math Sets for centers e. Mrs. Lynch approved for $125 for Reading Resources and supplies All teacher need items purchased by MES PTO are the property of Monrovia Elementary School. Please have any items that are ordered or shipped addressed to Mr. Sampson's attention. Mr. Sampson will distribute once received.
